Josip Kačmarčik was born in 1976 in Zenica, where he completed primary and secondary school. He graduated in 2004 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Zenica, majoring in construction and production. The postgraduate master's study "Metrology" ends in 2010 at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Zenica with the defense of the master's thesis "Experimental and numerical determination of the stress concentration factor for openings with reinforcement in pressure vessels". Doctoral studies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Slavonski Brod, major: Construction and numerical modeling of products, enrolled in 2012. In April 2016, he defended his doctoral dissertation "Numerical investigation of mixed fracture mode in delamination experiments using the cohesive zone model".
He completed a one-year internship during 2005 and 2006 at RMK Inženjering Zenica. Since 2006, he has been employed at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Zenica, as a member of the teaching team of the Department of Mechanics, where he is still today. Until 2016, he participated in the teaching of various subjects, mostly in the field of mechanics, as an assistant and senior assistant, and then as an assistant professor, and as an associate professor from 2021. As a mentor or commentator, he guided several candidates at the 1st and 2nd. study cycle. He participated in several professional, educational or scientific research projects. From 2018 to 2022, he worked as an ECTS coordinator at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Zenica, and since 2022 he has been a quality manager.
He is the co-author of two university textbooks, as well as several scientific and professional papers in journals and conference proceedings.
He is married and the father of two sons.
