Participation of Associate Professor Nusret Imamović, PhD, at Sarajevo Energy & Climate Week
The Head of the Center for Energy Efficiency, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nusret Imamović, was the moderator of the panel (XIX) entitled: DECARBONIZATION OF THE HEATING AND COOLING SECTOR WITH A FOCUS ON RES AND ELECTRIFICATION, as part of the Sarajevo Energy and Climate Week (SECW).
The panel was held on September 27, 2024 at the Federation Chamber of Commerce and addressed one of the key segments of the energy transition.
Professor Imamović opened the panel with current statistics on the state of the District Heating System in BiH, highlighting the need and importance of renovation and modernization of a very important segment for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and achieving climate goals. This provided a prelude and framework for the panelists to present information and views on current projects and potentials that RES and electrification offer in the heating and cooling sector, with a special focus on energy-efficient solutions that reduce emissions and costs.
The focus was also on various aspects of decarbonization, and the panelists were:

- Meho Kulovac, nLogic Advisory,
- Adnan Đugum, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Sarajevo & Sarajevogas,
- Damir Filipović, PUK Municipality Stari grad,
- Anes Kazagić, Elektroprivreda BiH.
The panel concluded that decarbonization of the heating and cooling sector will be key to achieving the goals of the energy transition, emphasizing the need to strengthen cooperation between all relevant sectors.
