ACTIVITY OF THE LABORATORY
The laboratory for measuring technology is an integral part of the Department of Automation and Metrology. It is intended for the education of undergraduate and postgraduate students in the field of metrology. In addition to training students, the Laboratory also provides services to external clients. The laboratory uses experimental methods to determine displacements, stresses and deformations of various structures and objects. It is also possible to carry out long-term monitoring of movement and monitor the results telemetrically, especially when checking when putting bridge structures into operation.

In the field of experimental methods and design, the laboratory deals with:

  • by examining the movement of different types of mechanical and construction structures under load or in normal operation,
  • by examining and measuring displacement over a long period of time at several places on the structure,
  • by testing samples and structural parts for designed loads on fixed equipment,
  • by precise measurement and control of dimensions using a 3D coordinate measuring machine,
  • digitization and reverse engineering of machine parts using a laser color 3D scanner,
  • by designing a system for measuring physical quantities,
  • consultations when choosing measuring equipment,
  • by processing the results of various types of measurements of physical quantities and analysis.

The laboratory for measuring technique is the central place for training students, both regular and postgraduate, in the field of different types of measurement of physical quantities. The laboratory is engaged in organizing and conducting seminars in the field of measurement: parameters of vibration, force, moment, displacement, speed, pressure, temperature, and workshops for the application of the ISO 17025 standard. In order to reduce the costs of planning and performing experiments, the Laboratory for Measurement Techniques can provide services of virtual laboratories for the following cases:

  • examination of the construction of a new product using simulations with different software solutions
  • process optimization using virtual instruments and LabView software (National Instruments)
  • organization of courses and training for the use of LabView software
  • organization of product testing courses using numerical methods
