ACTIVITY OF THE LABORATORY      
The Laboratory for Industrial Engineering (LII), Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Zenica, operates within the scope of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Production Systems.
The process of privatization, which is a basic feature of the economic transition in a large number of privatized companies, as well as those that have not yet done so, seriously threatened the role and importance of two business segments: Engineering and Maintenance, mainly due to "seemingly large costs" that do not fit into "quick and one-time philosophy" of quick return of invested funds in "bought" companies.
The situation of our economy is reflected in:

• limited opportunities to invest in the acquisition of new equipment,
• looking at reengineering possibilities,
• limited possibilities of purchasing spare parts,
• high rate of depreciation of equipment,
• high average age of equipment,
• aging, corrosion and degradation due to long-term standing,..

impose the need for a new approach that we offer you.

We will do for you:

• designing production processes and systems,
• analysis of possible variants of the work process when designing technologies,
• rationalization of work processes and production systems based on the achievements of the TOYOTA system,
• determination of working conditions as parameters when designing the workplace,
• determination of working time (standard time),
• introduction and application of network planning methods in various activities of the production system,
• the introduction and application of statistical methods in process monitoring as well as the selection of the most suitable methods,
• market research,
• designing organizational forms of companies up to the workplace level,
• selection procedure of machines, equipment and spare parts,
• selection and application of optimal maintenance methods,
• development of standards in the field of maintenance,
• education and training of personnel in the field of engineering and maintenance,
• documenting maintenance activities, etc.

As a result of their many years of scientific-research and professional work, the workers of this laboratory have realized a number of scientific-research and professional works both for the needs of economic entities and those from the field of research, which speaks of the high level of expertise and professionalism of the work performed.
There are numerous economic entities where our executors worked, starting with almost all plants of ironworks in Zenica and Ilijaš, through mines in Kakanj, Breza and Zenica, Kakanj Cement, Natrona in Maglaj, Pobjede in Tešnj, Energana Travnik, Thermal Power Plant Kakanj, Paper Factory Drvar , plasterboard factories Donji Vakuf, Krivaje Zavidovići, KTK Visoko, Mediapan Busovača, UNIS Sarajevo, Hidroelektrana Bihać and a number of other economic systems.
In addition to the above, the Laboratory for Industrial Engineering is intended for the education of students of all levels of education, scientific research and professional work primarily on solving production problems in factories.

The basic determinants of the work of the Laboratory are expertise and qualification for the execution of the mentioned works, quality and speed of services that are always adapted to the needs of the client. We strive to harmonize our work with the appropriate European regulations, standards and recommendations expressed through the use of appropriate ISO, VDI, EN, BAS, BS, DIN and others. standards and recommendations, various software packages and programs as well as expert systems. Of course, we did not ignore the specifications of the ISO 9000/2000 and ISO 14000 standards either.
