Freshman Guide 2025

WHAT IS "MECHANICAL ENGINEERING"?
Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and most widespread engineering disciplines. which relies on and applies the laws and principles of natural and other scientific disciplines such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, electrical engineering, etc. for the purpose of designing and producing numerous useful objects, machines and structures, and the control of various mechanical systemsMechanical engineering deals with the design and construction of energy, work and tool machines, their production and exploitation, as well as the design and production of devices for energy, process technology and the production of consumer products.
WHAT DOES A "MECHANICAL ENGINEER" DO?
The study of mechanical engineering trains experts to work in the following areas: development, design, construction, use and maintenance of plants, machines, tools, devices and other equipment; production, testing and recycling of various technical materials; design of thermal, energy and production processes; renewable energy sources and environmental aspects; automation, robotization, process management, quality assurance, measurement, and management and improvement of production and organization of work and production. Mechanical engineers use the essential principles of natural sciences with a modern approach and the application of computers through various engineering software for:
CAD (Computer Aided Design), CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) and CAE (Computer Aided Engineering).
ENROLL IN THE FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING -
YES OR NO?
One of the things that usually puts young people in a dilemma when deciding to study mechanical engineering and enroll in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is the cliché that it is a "difficult" study.
Studying mechanical engineering is not a difficult study rather, it only requires persistence, a disciplined approach to obligations, learning with an understanding first, of all mathematical and physical principles, and the ability to visualize.
Student life involves learning and teamwork, but also socializing, parties, outings, sports, and professional excursions in BiH and abroad. During your studies, you will meet many friends, even lovers, and these acquaintances will last a lifetime.
Mechanical engineers are in high demand on the "labor market" of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the countries of the region, and European countries. He testifies to that employment of our students immediately upon completion of their studies in many companies throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, Europe and the world, and there is not a small number of those who get employment even as seniors (students in their final year of study).
Therefore, if you were interested in how "things work" from a young age, if you liked to assemble and disassemble, first your toys, and then other devices, you never learned mathematics "by heart", but you were always able to understand it, we can tell you with certainty that The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is the right choice for you.
A choice that will provide you with a secure and valued job, a meaningful professional life with many stimulating challenges that bring a dignified status in society.

WHERE CAN YOU WORK AFTER FINISHING YOUR STUDIES?
Today, in the modern world, any branch of industry, and the development of the economy and society in general, is unimaginable without mechanical engineers.
After completing your studies, you have the opportunity to work in: all fields industry, energy, mining, transport, etc., education, trade institutions, inspection services, etc.
Today, it is difficult to name an area where our graduates are not employed, both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the world.
Of the total number of our graduates, over 230 work around the world (Australia, Canada, USA, Western European countries, etc.).
This indicates the fact that the diploma of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Zenica is recognized throughout the world.
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering cooperates with the following companies: ArcelorMittal Zenica, MANN+HUMMEL, Pobjeda, Enker, BME, GS-TMT, Natron-Hayat, CIMOS-Forging, ADK, BNT, FIS, AMBYENTA and other companies where a significant number of our graduates work.
Almost all graduates of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering find employment very quickly after completing their studies, and a large number of them work in the profession even before graduation, in their final years of studies!
