Activity
The Department of Maintenance bases its scientific-research, educational and professional activity on research in the fields of modern maintenance of process machines and equipment (metallurgical and mining plants and equipment, construction machines, energy plants, motor vehicles, process equipment in food technologies, etc.) . The teaching subjects of the Department deal with modern organization and management of maintenance, methods of technical diagnostics, assembly and disassembly processes, new technologies in maintenance, expert systems in maintenance, etc. The chair is responsible for the implementation of the teaching department at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, which bears the name MAINTENANCE. The department is fully committed to fulfilling the provisions of the Bologna process with an emphasis on the term studying and not learning at the level of high school, which has become a determinant of numerous study departments both in BiH and beyond.
The Department of Maintenance has a solid coverage of teaching subjects with its own staff. In this sense, it is a permanent policy of the Department that the employees of the department come partly from a permanent employment relationship from the faculty and institute (approx. and the region (20-30%), by which this Department shows not only a declarative but also a real connection with the economy, as well as a commitment to the mobility of staff and students.
Basically, the most important laboratory resource of the department are business systems in which a significant part of the teaching and research process is realized. This connection was even more strongly emphasized during 2018, when each of the teachers of the Department assumed the obligation that in the teaching process (approx. 0.5-1) ECTS points were acquired through the teaching process in the business systems of ZDK and the region, BiH, ex-SFRJ and EU.
Since the largest number of mechanical engineers (analyses show about 40% in the process industry) work in maintenance jobs, the importance of this Chair and the existence of this direction at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Zenica (MF UNZE) imposes the obligation of constant improvement and innovation of work. The process of innovating the NPP was also carried out in the new NPP during 2018, when the contents of each subject were significantly innovated and adapted to current and future trends in the fields of maintenance (mechatronics, greater participation of CNC machines, mechatronics, maintenance in new areas such as process industry, food technologies, etc.)
Laboratories and equipment
The department also has its own dedicated laboratory: the Laboratory for Technical Diagnostics. In this sense, in the previous 20 years that the laboratory has existed, more than 120 different expertises and more than 1000 different diagnostic measurements have been performed. In the laboratory itself, there are audio-visual equipment (video, TV, CD-projector, computers) for the modern teaching process and a large number of different vibration-simulation models made by our own forces or acquired through international projects.
Of the particularly significant diagnostic equipment that the Laboratory for Technical Diagnostics has today, we single out:
- MOVIPACK Two-channel modular system for vibration analysis MOVIPACK
- Vibration software (for learning) (i-Learn Vibration)
- MARLIN Condition Detector Marlin Condition Detector Pro IS CMVL 3600 IS
- Sound level meter (Sound level Meter Type 2250) (Bruel Kjær)
- Bearing condition monitoring equipment (SPM T30)
- Machine availability monitoring device (Leonova)
- Device for laser centering (Easy Laser 505)
- Device for modern 3D scanning of damaged machine parts (ARTEC Eva) - joint property with the Department of DTD and IDEAlab MF
There is also a large number of simulation devices developed and made by our own forces or through specific projects (fans, working wheels, gyroscopes, etc.) that enable simulations of almost all engineering industrial maintenance problems. In this way, along with practical teaching in business systems, students are prepared to get involved in solving real engineering problems in maintenance as ready as possible and with as little adaptation time as possible after graduation.
