REASONS FOR ESTABLISHING AN UNDERGRADUATE PROFESSIONAL STUDY ACCORDING TO THE BOLOGNA CONCEPT 3 + 2 + 3
According to the legal regulations, the obligation of higher education institutions is to innovate curricula, their harmonization with modern trends in science and profession, as well as the needs and demands of the community. According to the Bologna Declaration, the two-year education system is no longer possible, higher schools and part-time studies have no place in the Bologna concept, and so does the two-year part-time study of the first degree, which was once organized at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Practice has shown that this kind of staff is needed and finds its place in the economy, especially in these times when Bosnia and Herzegovina must approach European and global trends, and one of the leading ones is the intensive growth and development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in which today almost 90% residents of the European Union achieve their high GDP, in which this staff has proven to be very useful.
In order for the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering to continue to educate young and high-quality experts in the field of mechanical engineering who are capable of being leaders in the development of the economy of the Zenica-Doboj Canton and beyond, the establishment undergraduate professional study of mechanical engineering - department: Mechanical Engineering, according to the Bologna concept 3 + 2 + 3, was a normal sequence of monitoring trends in the economy in our environment, as well as trends in the transformation of higher education with the aim of adapting to the Bologna Declaration.
In the academic year 2019/20. The realization of a new study department at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Zenica under the name "DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY IN WOODWORKING - DTD" begins.
The development of this study program took several years in cooperation with respectable universities in Europe, such as Rosenheim, Biel, Ostwestfalen-Lippe, Trieste, Belgrade and Sarajevo.
The planned curriculum, as a separate one, provides the most useful knowledge, skills and competencies needed by future woodworking engineers.
CHARACTERISTICS OF UNDERGRADUATE PROFESSIONAL STUDY ACCORDING TO THE BOLOGNA CONCEPT 3 + 2 + 3
The concept of undergraduate professional studies
The undergraduate study adapted to the Bologna Process and evaluation of student work based on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) lasts three academic years (6 semesters, 180 credits).
After passing all exams according to the curriculum and program of the professional undergraduate study department: Mechanical Engineering, and passing the final exam (written and oral), students receive a professional title MACHINERY ENGINEER.
After passing all exams according to the curriculum and program of the professional undergraduate study department: Design and technologies in woodworking, and passing the final exam (written and oral), students receive a professional title WOODWORKING ENGINEER.
